So, if you're currently using SAGE as your accounting system but have been looking at the benefits of a cloud-based solution then this is your call to action. There are a few things to consider in making the move, but none of them are "should I move to Xero?". We've been using Xero with our customers for over three years now. It rocks. (This is why we think so.)
How does the conversion happen?
Xero are linking to Movemybooks, which is a secure, data encrypted tool which converts financial data from SAGE and imports it into Xero. The whole process is completed online.
How long will it take?
Three days from Movemybooks receiving the data file.
What's "free" in the "free conversion"?
Included is a free transfer of up to two years of transactions from Sage or QuickBooks Desktop. Once your data is in Xero you will need to pay the ongoing monthly subscription cost.
What data will be converted?
- Customer details
- Supplier details
- Chart of accounts
- Account balances
- Customer balances
- Supplier balances
- Individual transactions as requested
What data won't be converted?
Only core accounting information will be converted, so the following are not included in the offer:
- Departments
- Classes Budgets
- Stock Items Product
- Sales Items Sales
- Purchase orders
- Estimates
- Memorised transactions
- Invoice and other templates
- Timesheets
- Time Records
- Payroll and employee records
- Accounts that have never had any transactions
Also, bear in mind that foreign currency is not supported and so you won't be able to convert data where foreign currencies are enabled, although Xero say they're working on this for the future.
